ARCHIVE POLICY

Sources & image policy

Stamp Archive documents catalogue evidence and image rights so collectors can understand where a record came from and how an image may be used.

Archive purpose

Stamp Archive is a philatelic reference archive created to document, identify, study, and preserve information about postage stamps and postal history.

Catalogue sources

Catalogue information is compiled from official postal authorities, public institutions, specialist philatelic sources, and other referenced sources. Official and reference sources are identified separately whenever the record supports that distinction.

Image purpose

Stamp images are displayed for catalogue identification, historical reference, research, and collecting purposes. Public catalogue images use lightweight prepared variants rather than distributing high-resolution originals.

Image rights

An image is not reusable merely because it appears on an official or public website. Stamp Archive uses external images only when applicable reuse terms and attribution requirements have been verified. Unknown, restricted, reference-only, or permission-required images are not automatically published.

Copyright notice

Copyright and other rights in individual stamp designs, artwork, photographs, characters, and trademarks may belong to their respective rights holders. Where reuse terms are known, Stamp Archive records and follows the applicable source and license information.

Community images

Community-contributed images are scans or photographs submitted by collectors and are subject to our reporting and takedown process. Contributor email addresses and internal account identifiers are never displayed publicly.

Reporting and takedown

If you are a rights holder and believe an image should not appear on Stamp Archive, use the image report feature so it can be reviewed and, where appropriate, removed from public display.
